After reading the reviews I was very dubious about my stay here. Quite surprised when I walked into my room, clean modern, comfortable and everything I needed. The hotel has a great history and lots of characters which add to overall experience. The food was beautiful really well presented and delicious, I had breakfast lunch and an evening meal. The staff were so inviting, really personable.
Nothing was too much trouble and they made myself and my partner feel so welcome. We will most definitely be returning in the next few weeks. Many thanks to all the staff at Hollin House Hotel!

That two stars are only for the people who are working at the reception, restaurant and housekeeping. Absolutely lovely and helpful personel, hotel owners should pay them double because that's the only thing that made our stay a bit better. Very tasty food at the restaurant so again huge thank you for the chef and people working in the kitchen. But the owners should work on breakfast menu, very low choice.
Hotel itself is very old and in poor condition i have never had a worst room in my life. On our first night we got room with broken window, we were told that if we open it the whole thing will fell down. Really? How can you give room like that to someone with 3 yo child? Are you insane? Not to mention the temperature there was 25 degrees, shower curtains filthy and disgusting, some black spots on the tiles (mould?).
Next morning we requested different room because it was so hot in there and too dangerous to stay there with our child and broken widow. Another room was exactly the same, old and not very nice bit at least we could open the window. Before we arrived i have tried to contact reception on numerous times, a lot messages were left asking for a call back, they never did. We definitely not returning.

Great location. Hotel looked good from outside. Inside quirky but dated. Hotel room tired, with rock hard bed. As we stayed 4 nights, no servicing was carried out and we had to ask for a change of towels, tea bags etc, Breakfast was poor, no continental food at all, though advertised as such. Dislike powdered eggs, had to ask for real ones. Paid on arrival what was asked but hotel made an error.
They took the shortfall from my card after departure, without permission or explanation. I emailed my displeasure but.no reply. I have to say that our voucher evening meal was excellent but this was the only redeeming feature in what was a disappointing stay.

We stayed here for dinner, bed and breakfast for a night away and very much enjoyed ourselves. The room was clean and well appointed, with a lovely 4 poster bed and a large bathroom. After settling in for a short while we headed down for dinner and found the service to be good, and the food to be excellent. We would happily recommend the restaurant on its own merit.
Unfortunately the excellence of dinner perhaps raised my expectations of breakfast too high. Breakfast was buffet style with the hot and cold foods you'd expect. Cooked well enough, and edible. My partner enjoyed the fruit, but was disappointed it didn't appear there were more coffee options than just filter coffee. I would have liked to see even just a few cooked to order items available for breakfast (eggs Benedict or smoked salmon scrambled egg, or pancakes for instance), especially considering the high quality food we'd been served the night before. However, while we were out on a lunchtime walk afterwards we commented that we'd like to explore the area more, and if a deal at the hotel was available when we do we would happily stay again.

Apart from our room looking a little tired (but we did have a dog and the common parts of the hotel looked as if they had been decorated) we had a great couple of days. The staff were great, very professional and friendly, the restaurant service was excellent and the quality of food was 1st class. Myself and my wife would definitely use the hotel again. Well done Hollin House Hotel

Me and my husband stayed overnight on a gift voucher purchased as a gift prior to lockdown. On initial impressions the hotel is a lovely looking building with great features especially the dome glass ceiling. The room however was a disappointment.room 65.it was clean enough, the bed was comfortable. The room was far too warm so went to open a window.which hadn't any views as such and quite overlooked, not that great a problem but could have done with voile or net curtains, as absolutely no privacy unless you closed the curtains. Tried to open the window which was all but rotted away.
Not really acceptable. No bulb in the bedside lamp so had to stumble about in the dark. Bar menu is limited and was over cooked. However the evening meal was really tasty. Breakfast is a little limited.croissants would have been nice and no fried eggs.but we did ask and they kindly did us one. Overall decent hotel and staff.let down by the shabby decor in parts of the hotel

My husband and I recently had our wedding reception at Hollin house and it was truly a beautiful day. Sophie was fantastic with dealing with any worries or questions we had. We were listened to, reassured and able to make the day truly special and unique to us. The food was great, the venue is beautiful and all the staff were so kind and helpful. Thank you Hollin house hotel for making our wedding so memorable and lovely. x

Stayed for one night with two dogs for a quiet getaway. Great location for walkers as well as visiting Macclesfield. Staff were lovely and welcoming, they made special arrangements for my dogs raw food to be stored in a fridge. Nothing was too much bother. Ate in the restaurant for evening meal and had breakfast in the morning. Lovely food for a good price (25 for two courses, 31 for three). Breakfast was substantial and the hotel allowed us to have breakfast after the allocated times due to a wedding party staying. I would definitely stay again!

It's an ageing hotel & the maintenance is poor but, the staff are very polite, apart from the young barman whom embarrassed us all by having a rant, when we asked for a drink at last orders, even though I'd politely stood at the for around 18 minutes. Plus the bar prices are colossal, 33 for 4x drinks, is very expensive! The rooms & fixtures look tied, but it was nice & clean, good shower, large bed & good food, the breakfast was lovely.

Attended for christmas lunch with 10 other members of the family. The presentation of the tables was lovely, the staff couldn't do enough for you. The food was great, a nice relaxing day made to feel very welcome. No hesitation in booking again. A lovely touch for the kids was a Santa visit with a gift for each child after the meal.

It is ok and the building and surroundings are nice. We booked a "family room" for 2 adults and 2 kids. We were given a large double room with an extra single bed in, so we had to go and ask where the other bed was, the receptionist said they would have an extra bed brought up- no big deal, mix ups happen. We were meeting family there, so left the. room and expected an extra bed to be there when we got back.
What we actually got was a load of metal springs covered in a bit of thin foam, a few inches off the floor, a dog bed would have been more comfortable. My daughter couldn't get to sleep on it, so I slept on and it was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever slept on, I should have just.

We had booked to stay for 1 night and we loved it that much we ended up staying an extra night. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The room was stunning we upgraded to a suit which was beautiful, our daughter thought she was a princess saying in a castle. The decor was so pretty as has old features which we loved. we loved how it had the rustic look and feel and that not a lot had been touched. The bed was so comfy and the bathroom was massive. We can't wait to book and come back. Thank you for a great stay.

Writing for a friend they stayed here for 2 nights. The staff could not do enough for us. They had an extremely rude and difficult customer. Who was rude to both staff and customers. The staff where exceptional and could not do enough to help them. Staff where extremely polite, courteous and welcoming. Rooms fantastic as well as exceptional food. Highly recommended any one to visit.
A big shoutout to certain staff. Firstly Shelly the receptionist exceptional Manor and professionalism Tyler the bar tender extremely friendly and welcoming Shaun the manager the most professional, kind and caring manager I've ever met in all my years of going to different hotels I could continue with every member of staff but the list wouldn't stop.
I can't wait to return later this year. Once again thank you Hollin Hall Hotel and staff the best thing I have done since lockdown you are a credit to the hospitality industry
