700-year-old BridgeHouse is a magical, Dorset country house hotel full of character - the product of generations of history passing through its doors. Originally a home for a dozen priests, the hotel now has its own unique, boutique style, sympathetic to its heritage as well as contemporary comfort. The aim is to create an unpretentious home from home in a relaxed modern way.
We provide luxury hotel accommodation with every bedroom decorated in its own individual style. Each has refurbished bathrooms some with romantic, stand-alone baths, Molton Brown toiletries, crisp white Frette linen and free wi-fi as standard.

Stopped by for a drink and spot of lunch in a nice little shaded area of the beautiful gardens at the back. The sharing Chacuterie board was lovely and tasty. The staff were very friendly to everyone around as well as just us. I would highly recommend and will certainly be back before the end of our holiday

Another update (seems like my first trip wasn't a one off) Sunday afternoon, it was sunny although the garden wasn't full. There were plenty of staff and nobody eating inside. After 30 minutes and chasing our drinks arrived, another 10 minutes and our sandwiches arrived. One member of staff was apologetic, the others couldn't even be bothered to say anything or make eye contact.
The tables around us were served similarly. Still love the location, but will need persuading to visit again, specially as my bread was starting to go stale (certainly very dry). Update. Been a couple more times since the first review here. Now I say, food is very good, beer is very good, some of the staff very good and some not quite as good. It's also a gorgeous building.
Location is spot on for a meal between train rides or after walking round the village and castle. Originally. It was OK, but nothing more. We went for a pub lunch between getting off the steam train and getting back on again (it's very convenient for the train), although would try somewhere else next time. There was nothing wrong, apart from the staff not really knowing what's going on(but they were both helpful and pleasant), but it just wasn't a lovely pub lunch. Food was warm not hot and just that. The beer was good though.

We recently held our wedding at the Bankes Arms and it was everything we could have hoped for. Of course, the venue is absolutely amazing with a wonderful view of the castle and it's perfect to watch the steam trains go by. But more than that, George and the whole team at the Bankes Arms were absolutely phenomenal. The food was amazing, the service was friendly and quick, and it was an absolute pleasure to speak and deal with everyone there.
Everyone made sure that we and our guests had everything we needed and George was incredibly helpful in the run up to the day and organising everything. I would highly recommend the Bankes Arms for any events and just for a visit to have a wonderful meal there or stay in a lovely part of the world. The Bankes Arms gave us the most special day we could have asked for. Thank you!

Eggs Benedict and English tea - match made in foodie heaven! We stopped by this cute little place while waiting for Corfe Castle to open up. The place was empty when we visited and I was a little worried about the kind of food I was about to get. My eggs were yummy though - delicious poached eggs on perfectly pock-marked english muffins and some strong english tea.
The place is steeped in old british history and seems like I stepped into someone's living room from the 1800's really. They are an inn too, so we some patrons come down for breakfast from their rooms during our visit too. I would love to come back!

This is a very characterful 15th Century Inn and the rooms are appropriately quirky. My single room wasn't en-suite but did have a shower. I was very pleased to find the hotel has free wifi for guests and the real ale in the bar was very well kept. I had a nice starter and a butternut squash and goats cheese risotto in the restaurant and enjoyed the food very much. As this Inn is right in the middle of Corfe it is ideal for exploring the beautiful castle which is just outside the pub and rises over the garden of the inn.
