I used to work here. We got treated so badly a lot of us cried. Some of us women were left to lock up the hotel in the dark by ourselves. There were no tills, it seemed a little bit like a tax dodge. We were paid via cheque. I've had other previous employees tell me that they had their checks cancelled if they upset the bosses. They hired a chef who didn't actually have any experience as a restaurant chef.
They claim to be 5* but they don't have a swimming pool, tea or coffee in the rooms and the marquee had been up illegally for years. We were also expected to work in the marquee in the dead of winter with no heating on because it was "too expensive" to heat. There were lockers under the marquee by a ridge in the park with no guard rail and we had to get stock up from there on our own.
We got told off for wearing jackets, even if it was cold. We got screamed at if the radiators were above 3, if a spoon was facing the wrong direction or if the chairs were in the wrong place.

Just had our daughters wedding at this venue. The location in a country park is fantastic, with plenty parking. The staff were outstanding, nothing too much trouble and looked after all our needs. The bedrooms are all individually designed with possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Food was superb and as a wedding venue, I cannot fault with it.

Fabulous afternoon. Enjoying afternoon tea with champagne in the exquisite dining room. Looked after by Tom, who was very diligent polite and pleasant, andSherry who laughed with us ( full speed through the gravel ) and was a fabulous hostess. Fabulous music played on the piano by the talented Graham made a lovely day feel extra personal. Very welcoming atmosphere made it feel very special. A beautiful day allowed us to explore some of the grounds too. A truly special place x

If you're after a luxurious venue to use for a wedding or a VIP party that connotes elegance and is set in beautiful surroundings then the Hillbark would be a great port of call. It's the most luxurious hotel that I've visited on the Wirral. Set within the beautiful acres of Royden Park and Thurtaston Common, this place is a fantastic Hotel with excellent levels or service and food and drink.
I attended a leaver's ball here for the local girls school about three years ago, this included a sit down three course meal, dances and plenty of drinks. However, I'm constantly hearing of high profile guests and parties in this venue as it seems to be unrivalled in its service and surroundings within the area. The food was great, I think they have affiliations with various local catering companies and produce providers. The service was fantastic and the place was a palace. I'd fully recommend staying here if you're visiting the Wirral!

Soaked in history this Grade 2 Listed hotel is set in a mammoth 250 acre parkland. Looking over the Dee estuary at the Welsh hills this is a destination venue that is ideal for weddings and other grand events. With only 19 rooms, the elegant Executive Suite, five Suites, seven Junior Suites and six Classic Rooms it is a case of quality over quantity.
It can also act as a perfect treat for the other half. All suites are rather well equipped with beautiful fabrics, bed linen, pure silk rugs, hand picked grandiose furniture and a jacuzzi. The yellow room restaurant provides an ideal gourmet fine dining spot, where the lavish theme continues. Opulent gilt armchairs, tables dressed in crisp white linen, creating an awe inspiring yest relaxing ambiance.
The menu consists of a selection of English and Continental cuisine finely balanced with an impressive collection of wines from the hotel's cellar. Understandably reservation of a table is paramount, and once booked there is no rush as the table is yours for the evening. It is however rather dear and as an alternative to this gourmet dining option the hotel offers the Hillbark Grill, a more informal dining option.
The menu includes steaks, chicken, fish and in house hand made burgers. Everything on the menu is freshly cooked all on the char grill. Although majorly used for corporate and leisure events rather, Hillbark which is only 15 minutes from the city centre is a destination for a special occasion for those looking for a slightly luxuriant leisure option.
