What an excellent place to stay in Morecambe! The rooms are pleasingly furnished, spacious, clean and well maintained. The breakfast selection is suitability varied and a great way to start the day. Pauline, your host, is personable, thoughtful and kind. Apart from that, the hotel has a marvellous view, over the Bay, if you choose a room at the front of the establishment. I highly recommend The Ashley Hotel for either a short or a long stay: I stayed for three weeks.

On arrival the parking was to the rear of the building giving no access to the hotel. The parking area looked like a tip. After parking on the main road we gained access to the hotel via a combination lock on the front door. We were met by the believed owner and got the keys to our room. The hotel was cold and very uninviting. After going up long winding stairs to our room the ensuite was across the hallway, the heating for the room was an electric heater and not central heating.
Being on the 3rd floor I saw no fire escape and the room was cold and clammy. We immediately handed the keys back and asked for our money back. We were refused in a verbal aggressive manner followerd by frets of violence. He even told me he will come looking for me if I write this review. I do not recommend this hotel and strongly urge you to avoid it.

The Pro's The property exterior and interior were immaculate, clean, tidy and well presented. The proprietors John, whom we met only briefly when we checked in, and Pauline, who also cooked and served breakfast each day, were very helpful and friendly. I would recommend The Ashley to anyone and be delighted to stay there again. Our room was on the top floor and had wonderful sea views.
The bed was very comfortable and there was a 32 flat screen TV provided, refreshments were topped up, tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits, each day. The bathroom was also immaculate and had, much to my delight, a shower cubicle rather than a bath /shower combination, not everyone's taste but definitely mine. The promenade is literally 30 seconds walk from the front door of the hotel and meant that one could have a safe, pleasant walk into town with no problems at all.
There are several sections of beach to choose from depending on what you're looking for, with cafes and shops for refreshments. The Con's Not many to be honest, there was no elevator sadly, which was a reminder that I'm no longer the young man I once was, however we managed fine. Our room was quite hot despite having the windows wide opened during our stay.
However the weather was fantastic so, no complaints, merely an explanation of the circumstances, we slept on the top of the duvet with only the throw as our cover and were perfectly comfortable, not the hotels fault, after all, they have no control over the weather, lol. We have a power shower at home which, rather spoils us, regardless of where we stay, nothing compares, but, the shower did it's job with no problems or issues.
