I understand it was the marches day but the lunches could have been better organised. I don't think the staff had a clue what they were doing as regards giving out the correct menu. I will be back as I'm sure the hotel is run better on normal days

We didnt stay in the hotel, I'm reviewing only the bar. Which just gets further downhill everytime we're in. Do not expect miracles from this bar anymore, a quick drink to tick it off the pub trail list and move on. This establishment used to be hands down the best in town for afternoon teas, food, drinks and a great start to the famous linlithgow pub trail. however teas started to be obviously shop bought rather than home made and the drinks just keep getting worse.

When we were in we noticed the reception desk for the hotel was smack bang in the middle of the bar with paperwork etc laid out for all to see. We had ordered 4 gins and 4 baby guiness shots, which came looking like someone had spat in the shot glass and quite clearly not created from the correct alcohol. We would have rated higher at the staff been honest that they didnt know the shot instead of selling us this.

Food was warm and not hot. Service was terrible, waited ages in between courses despite having emailed a copy of everyone's choice of menu beforehand.

If I could give this 0 stars I would, booked for 7, starters commenced around 8, mains around 9 then desserts 10ish, first excuse was we didn't know how many were coming. booked private room with all starters, mains & desserts pre booked, I'm not sure why you wouldn't know how many were coming! Forgot about one of the mains and others from the party have left without dessert, poor poor poor! Glasses (plastic) which were split at bits, 3 chairs were broken, what on earth is going on? Almost forgot. 45 minutes for 2 peach schnapps. I have never had such poor service especially for a private booking. Will not be back.

Booked for mother's day and I was extremely disappointed. The waiting time was far too long, our dirty plates were left infront of us for over 30 minutes, staff ignored us many times, the food was good although the waiting time was a complete let down. Dirty marks over there screens, tables etc. Overall just looked rather grubby.

Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Railway station is just behind hotel but the trains are barely audible, so don't worry about railway line. Breakfast offering was good. Evening meal was good with mostly home cooked food at reasonable prices. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Out for our dinner, with Isla the Labrapony! Great food, Minestrone soup was fantastic, followed by the set price steak dinner with a bottle of wine, it was brilliant. Service was excellent, Stacey was brilliant. Highly recommended.
