This is a beautiful old hotel that prides itself on excellent service. The location is not far from the coast in a small village and is not too far from all Cornwall has to offer. Our room was in the new part of the hotel, was spacious and clean, and we slept well. All meals were excellent and the lounge and bar areas were welcoming with friendly staff. Be assured - you get what you pay for here.

Perfectly sublime. We were fortunate enough to find this gem subject to our exacting requirements; country house escape in an idilic quiet child free setting but within easy reach of all of all that Cornwall had to offer. We were not disappointed, it felt like home from home. First impressions were all the staff were warm, friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

Our room was beautiful and clean with wonderful crisp cotton sheets. Needless to say this encouraged a great nights sleep, as the location of the hotel was in a quiet valley, with nothing but lovely birdsong to wake us in the morning. Breakfast was outstanding every day, the eggs were consistently perfect however we chose to have them. And as for dinner, there was a wonderful menu and fabulous specials every evening.

Which meant we could relax and not have to search for a different place to eat each night, knowing it would be as good as any restaurant we could find within one hours drive. During our 10 day stay, in the first week of first week of June, I was able to study for my final exams for a few days in the lovely peaceful garden, whilst my husband went out look for our next adventure. Claire and Paul went out of their way be personable and friendly, which showed a lot of thoughtfulness for the guests in an environment where owners and staff can be overlooked and taken for granted.

We feel we must say a special thank you to all the staff, including Sophie, Fran, Nathan, Jackie and Paige, all of whom took the time to give us their hints and tips, in a friendly and jovial manner, of where to visit next. We sincerely hope to visit again, as we can't imagine wanting to choose anywhere else if we were in Cornwall, we really did enjoy it that much. Top marks Rose in Vale! Tony and Judy Birch

We were so impressed with all the smiling staff; nothing was too much trouble for them! Our room was spotless with a very comfortable bed, quality furniture and a large sparkling bathroom. Food was excellent, well presented and a good choice of menu. The location was ideal for us, quiet, yet fairly close to the coast.

Staff are super attentive and very friendly. All round fantastic team. The breakfast is always good with poached eggs right every time. The evening meal is always super tasty as is the beer! With oodles of chalm and character, this is a place to relax and retreat. Rooms are super quiet so you'll sleep well. Loved every minute of our stay

Had a fantastic stay at this wonderful hotel. The staff were all so helpful and friendly, could not do enough for myself and my son. It was a very much needed break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and boy was this a restful peaceful place to stay. The breakfast was really tasty and well cooked, evening meals were always a delight.

Different specials every day. A lovely br area where you can relax before and after your evening meal. Was very sad to leave, hopefully will return sometime. many thanks to all the staff for making our stay a very happy one.

I am disabled and the ground floor room catered very well for my needs. Staff are attentive but lack knowledge on local transport. The disabled toilet was being used as a storage cupboard. Lots of parking spaces. Grounds nice but not colourful. Some quests were disappointed as they were expecting gardens in bloom. The food let it down Breakfast was well cooked and nicely presented however in a four star hotel we expected a fish choice.

Evening meal very limited. Lots of chips or rosties but vegetables and new potatoes were an extra to be paid for. We were charged 1 for bread and butter and it was two hard crusts from a brown loaf and was inedible. There is a bar but not manned. We expected to be able to sit in a bar and socialise at the end of the day. Be careful toasting bread the machine either doesn't do it or burns. It's a pity as the place is spotless and the staff friendly. We used the buses and paid varied fares! The local pub is good.

Lovely country hotel with a nice family run vibe. Great staff, who couldn't do enough for us. Our room was very cosy and clean. Nice powerful shower and plenty of room. Breakfast and dinner were great, with a lot of choice to mix it up everyday. The specials for dinner were great and very generous portions. The staff were all knowledgeable on the local area and gave advice on where we might like to visit.

It's in a great location between St Agnes and Perranporth. Meaning most places we wanted to visit were within a 45 minute drive. Well stocked bar, for rainy afternoons too. We had a great stay on our honeymoon and would recommend to anyone. Especially if you prefer a more personal hotel to the normal corporate feel of most.
