I can't comment on the rooms. I only live around the corner. The food is great. We went for a work night out and everyone really enjoyed their meal. Very reasonable prices and beautifully cooked and presented. There's a nice outside seating area to be on a sunny day and an outdoor pizza oven (the pizzas are very nice)! The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from the high street, and has parking too if driving, so very handy to get to

Dated interior. Uncomfortable beds. One member of staff does everything and although pleasant is clearly overworked and stressed. Breakfast is just OK. Many more staff needed.

Great location, we had a lovely view of the castle! We were taken over the road to a separate building which had a few rooms in! Breakfast was great, we had the choice of a few cooked items (English/Scottish breakfast, eggs Benedict) and other items, toast + cereals were available for us to help ourselves too. The lady who checked us in was really nice, she was who we spoke too throughout our stay here!

I stayed for one night here briefly, as a last minute booking when getting tired driving North from Edinburgh. The room was clean and comfortable. The room was a little bit warm, however I was apprecitive to get a room at all at such short notice.

Location is relatively close to the train station on a small hill in a quiet street. Staff was nice and friendly. Went out very early each morning and couldn't have their breakfast but they prepared a packed lunch for me every day. The room I stayed in was very small. The shower tap was leaking cold water constantly, but the shower pressure was good and temperature was easy to control.

Went for lunch with friends. Room was freezing. Told server it was cold and she brought a small electric fire. Which we were grateful for but it really didn't do much. Food was nice. We had 1.5 starters 2 mains, a coffee a pudding with 4 drinks 2 alcoholic 2 soft. Was around 62.00 plus tips. Maybe a tad too expensive! But pleasant.

We had booked the restaurant because OpenTable showed a separate vegan menu but when we asked about this they said they didn't have one and you just have to ask for the options. The options were given reluctantly without any indication of price. We waited 10 mins without being asked for a drinks order and upon seeing the food being served, decided to leave.

The restaurant was half empty, on a day when every restaurant in town was fully booked, there was no atmosphere and the servers were less than welcoming. When we left, the staff did not seem to notice/care.
