Raven Hall was originally built by Captain William Childs of London. A Captain in the King's Regiment of light Dragoons, he first came to Yorkshire with the army. In 1763 Captain Childs became the owner of the Alum Works at Ravenscar and we assume that it is this commercial interest - combined with the breath-taking beauty of the area, which led him to build his family holiday home here. Until Raven Hall (which was formerly known as Peak Hall) was built in 1774, Ravenscar was a scattered hamlet of farm buildings.
Our Scandinavian-style log cabins include a unique range of features for guests, including your own private kitchenette, log burning stove, patio or balcony (or both) and of course Wi-Fi access for sharing your holiday snaps online! We pride ourselves on the eco-friendly credentials of our lodges, and, as well as the sustainable materials used throughout construction our log cabins also include water-recycling systems, recycled energy-boosting and log burning stoves.

Staff are so friendly and enthusiastic about their job. The views throughout the hotel are picturesque with a great view of the hills and the bay. Would definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a scenic getaway with class service. Furthermore the food at the hotel is absolutely sublime, what a wonderful stay.

My daughter got married at raven hall hotel on Thursday me and my wife got here Monday and stayed till Saturday although it didn't start to well the lodge we booked had a funny smell to it after a few times trying to see what it was and get rid of what ever was causing it they decided it would be better to move us, they give us a beautiful room with the best view you could wish for and added breakfast for free for the rest of the week, as for the wedding all I can say is wow they honestly couldn't do enough for you.ben and all his staff was amazing the duty managers was so helpful I'd recommend this place to anyone thinking of getting married here, the food is top class too

Don't waste your time or money. Please see the attached photos and read this before booking here. The rooms are dirty. See the photos I attached. The clean spots are when I cleaned the bathroom floor with tissue and shampoo. It's gross. The carpets had dirt and stains all over them. They had a party outside my room window and death metal was playing until 2330.
There was only one window to see out of in the room and it had a staircase blocking the whole thing which also let people look directly in at you. We asked and paid for a room with a view. We checked in 15 minutes after check in started and there were no reservations left for the pool. They blamed it on covid, but covid regulations are no longer in effect. We asked for dinner reservations and because of a wedding we couldn't have dinner here either. :( It is such a shame that this beautiful place is so badly run. :(.

I love the fact the staff are always so friendly. The food is lovely and the surroundings and history of Ravenscar draws me back year after year. It's also dog friendly and welcoming, the dog rooms comfortable and homely. One thing has always stood out for me, the staff have always been lovely. attentive and obliging. The best rooms are stunning with amazing views. Suitable for weddings.
Lovely gardens with a sea view. Plus a beautifull equipped room on the ground floor with wheel chair access and wet room if required. I Iike the fact it is, I believe, independently run. It certainly is much more welcoming than the big hotel chains. If something does need attention it is dealt with calmly and one gets the feeling these are happy staff, doing the best they can in a busy and demanding job.

Popped in for a coffee and a walk around the grounds. Quite an old fashioned property but stopped in history. Worth a wander down the garden overlooking the sea, you're likely to see seals in the cove below. There's a path down the side where you can have a walk towards the coast. Lovely friendly service from the staff.

Great place to stay for a short stay. Lovely food, just stay away from poached eggs in morning, I had to send four back as they were tepid on the outside and flat fridge cold on the inside. No interest from breakfast cook. Head waiter tried to tell me that they are plunged into ice water after cooking, but that does not explain cold in, warm out. Stick with fried egg.
Place to store ebikes in lockup and charge battery. Wonderful ride to Whitby and Scarborough along cinder pathway. Our room was on 3rd flour and I thought the roof was going to blow off. This is a continual issue on windy nights. Hotel pool was really good and warm Very good service from staff. Evening meals are very good quality, tasty and substantial. Lovely views over towards robinhoods bay.

Visited this hotel for a wedding and stayed over night in the hotel. What an absolute stunning place this is! Views are spectacular, service excellent, just really lovely and accommodating staff. Wedding was absolutely perfect, great venue, excellent food and not bad priced drinks on the bar. Couldn't really fault it! We had an excellent room with stunning views, bit dated but adds to the character.
Good comfy sleep, nice shower and a lush breakfast. Definitely worth a visit, we will return and think we'll try a night in one of the lodges as they look incredible on the top of the cliff over looking the sea. Thanks Raven Hall

Would definitely recommend this hotel for a wedding venue, breathtaking views, superb, food, staff. The hotel were very helpful in rearranged dates due to covid restrictions. Three date changes over 15 month period! Great outside ceremony. If weather is not good. Inside ceremony would be fine. Even the weather was brilliant. Buffet breakfast very tasty. Local produce.
