JD Young is nestled in the picturesque market town of Harleston alongside the historical market square. Dating from the 17th century the hotel has established itself over the centuries and was a key stop off point en-route from London to Norwich. Today we have been operating for over 20 years providing our guests with a luxurious experience.

After ordering breakfast here on a few occasions, the time between ordering and being served needs to improve dramatically! The breakfast, once you do receive it is great but it takes too long. We ordered four breakfasts with a few replacement items but nothing extra and recently waited nearly 40 minutes! And we're informed, albeit jokingly, that we were a pain in the a***. More help required in the kitchen or advise people to go shopping for half an hour.

Been there several times in the past for a meal. Very much disappointed with todays lunch. I asked for GF battered haddock and chips. I got grilled or pan fried haddock and bottom of the bucket crispy chips. It's no credit to the Chef if he/she can't cook bartered fish GF. Wont be going again.not for the price charged too. Two fish and chips, three beers.45.50! 26/03/22

Very welcoming, the decor gives the Restaurant a cosy feeling, lovely food, reasonably priced, very large portions. As it was Mothers'Day the room was full and extremely noisy so it was difficult to have a conversation. Felt maybe too many tables near to each other. Minor point though - the very helpful and friendly staff more than made up for any negatives. Thank you JD Young's.

Super, relaxing atmosphere on our visit. We had fish and chips. A scrummy, fairly priced and huge portion. Fish melted in your mouth, as it should. Lovely helpful staff, good selection of beers. Driving, so alcohol free was the order of the day. Too hungry, so no photo's. It was market day, so couldn't park in the usual place, but easily found parking a spit away. Go check it out. You won't be disappointed.

I took my sister here on December 9th for a birthday lunch. My sister has been unwell for a year and it was the first time she had been out for a meal in ages. The staff were outstandingly polite, friendly and helpful and the food was delicious too. In fact everything about the place we would give a 5 star for. One special touch was an ice cream with a firework in it being bought to my sister as a birthday surprise, this was so thoughtful and my sister was very touched by it. We will be back again soon to enjoy another lovely meal.

Big city quality at village prices. No trip to the area is complete without a visit to this excellent restaurant. The food was amazing. Everything was a cut above. Every aspect of your visit has been carefully considered, and every detail has been pored over. Only the best has been deemed good enough. When the worst thing I can say is the lighting is slightly harsh in the bar area, they must be doing something right!

Friendly helpful staff, clean pub with a relaxed atmosphere. Pint of real ale 4, lovely pint, I don't usually stop long in pubs that charge more than 4.50 a pint. Had carbonara (12) hot, well cooked and very tasty, well presented on a normal plate! Generous side salad (although listed as garnish!) and plenty of garlic bread strips. Food arrived in good time. Really cool music too, but wasn't too loud. Would recommend and will return.

We stayed as a family of three. Welcoming and helpful staff, from telephone booking (yes, book direct if you can), to reception, to the dining room service. Very clean and modern room, so much more space than we expected. Food was generously portioned and reasonably priced. Well done guys, keep it up :)
