The castle and surrounding estate have a rich history. The Glenapp Estate was already well established under the ownership of the Earl of Orkney when the industrialist, James Hunter (later to become the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Ayrshire), acquired it and commissioned in 1870 the celebrated Edinburgh architect, David Bryce, to design a suitably magnificent home for him.

Magical & Mystical what a wonderful place! The castle hotel and the stunning grounds are a sight to behold. A truly wonderful experience not to be missed. The dining experiences were superb. It was an absolute pleasure to stay. From the top of the management team to gardeners the whole staff team are engaging and form such a strong feeling of comfort and care. A special mention to both Nelio & Alessandro who made a very special stay even more special! We look forward to returning to Gienapp.

A fantastic place with real connections to the past, the castle certainly looks the part from the outside and it's decor is very much in keeping with it's history. We went for afternoon tea which was a very refined affair not really suited to children, food scrumptious, staff friendly and efficient. The weather was not good on the day we went so we did not get to have a walk round the gardens which looked amazing, we went on a coupon deal but I will gladly return and be happy to pay the full price.

From booking our stay to checking out, every aspect of this visit has been special! I proposed to my girlfriend and every member of staff made it incredible! They all went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We will 100% be back and it is without a doubt one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed! Thank you so much to everyone at the hotel! Matthew & Skye

Afternoon tea was excellent, the surroundings were good, the staff were very attentive. When the reservation was made my daughter said she was dairy free, this must have been forgotten. But when mentioned it wasn't a problem to rectify, and everything was explained as to there content. We didn't eat everything and they bagged the remainder for us.

I had a wonderful solo stay at Glenapp. The hotel and grounds are stunning. Staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and appreciated. Rooms are comfy and cozy (although I think mine was haunted as the TV turned itself on at 2am!) The food was outstanding. Well worth the 5 hour drive from Cheshire. Would benefit from a spa within the grounds as currently they offer use of an external one around a 5 minute drive away. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for an idyllic retreat

Location - stunning Food - excellent This baronial mansion house is home to a C&R hotel and one of Scotland's finest restaurants. Regularly starred by the Michelin guide. I've eaten here three times now twice for dinner and once for lunch. On each occassion the service has been superb, without being as stuffy as the surroundings would suggest. Moreover, I've never once left with a single regret having dropped my hard earned wedge on dinner.
