The George Washington Hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. Stayed for 4 nights in May, 2022. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open due to COVID-19, but the hotel is just steps away from restaurants in the Old Town District. Close to the Winchester Pedestrian mall and other historic sites, all within easy walking distance. I chose the King room and was extremely pleased. Room service was provided for breakfast and the service and food was great. Very happy I decided to stay here. Would highly recommend as the place to stay in Winchester, VA.

For the price the hotel is not worth it. The front desk staff were not helpful, friendly or curious. They advertised a restaurant and that's not really true. They do have a bar that only opens at 4pm and serves only bar food. A separate breakfast restaurant only serves limited breakfast. Booked the Spa located within the hotel. Checking the booking two days out, the day before all confirmed the spa treatment.
We showed up on the day and time of the reservation and they had no record of the reservation. The hot tub located in the pool area was cold. For the pool there was no changing rooms. They charge for parking which is fair enough. In the uncovered parking area loud groups gather well into the evening, shouting and clearly drinking. Not a comfortable situation. The rooms were dated. Wet marks on the roof of the room caused by leaks, rooms very small. Cannot recommend.

Really like hotel but absolutely no food or drinks available on property. We asked where to go and were given names of 3 places in walking distance. All were closed. Not the fault of staff but why are your food venues not open? Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. Just got hungry. I guess you better pack a lunch if you book here.

Our stay was wonderful! We had a corner room. The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was sweet. The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept well, considering a bad back. The air system was a little loud going on and off but even as a light sleeper, it was not a concern. Free parking on-site, as well. I would highly recommend staying here. I surely will again soon!

My wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary and we it made special by staying at this awesome hotel. The staff was friendly and recognized us for our wedding milestone. The room was very nice and comfortable with a spectacular view of downtown Winchester. We were in walking distance to all downtown had to offer. After a wonderful stroll and dinner around the town, we enjoyed a nice relaxing dip in the pool and hot tub back at The George Washington Hotel.

This hotel is lovely! Each room has lots of space, the pool is nice and unique - my guests and my sisters kids a like loved it, my mom was able to get a last minute massage, it is walkable to a lot of lovely restaurants, and the Half Note bar in the hotel Lobby is great to hang out! Oh! and large bathrooms which is great for getting ready! I worked with Felicia to book our hotel block!
She was wonderful at helping us work through problems with our guests booking. This is the only reason we are giving it 4 stars. The booking process was rough for our guests. Every single one of our guests, including ourselves, had issues booking with the block when they called the front desk. It always worked out but it was unnecessarily difficult to get a room at times.
It seems like there is some sort of disconnect between the block and what the front desk is able to do. Also the parking with snow was a bit tricky with uncleared spots, and then the garage parking was a bit unclear with valet parking or if we could park there because the outside lot was full. On a positive note, I booked their largest suite and it was a amazing!
I had my bridal party over the night before and the day of to get ready. There was also a waterfall shower and large tub! Overall, I would say book here but make sure you have more than enough rooms on hold in your block and have them a few days before the wedding as well.

The website says there's a heated indoor pool but that's incorrect. The pleasant staff confirmed that the 70° pool isn't heated, just the room is. The hot tub was very hot but has rough concrete so not as pleasant to sit on. My room was nice and the bed was comfortable enough and I enjoyed my massage and facial.

You could tell they tried. This hotel had a lot going for it, but the execution could use some more attention to detail. Pros: Charming room with a very comfortable bed, cute and spacious bathroom, well-decorated lobby, excellent location within walking distance of historic downtown, and an interesting history. Cons: Parking is an extra $10 per night.
The lot doesn't appear to be anything special- It's just right next to the hotel, but you don't have any other options except a city garage that also charges. Secondly, the room itself is cramped and you're constantly bumping into the bed if you try to walk around. The curtains could use some cleaning- there were visible stains. Thirdly, the bottle of water left in our room was clearly previously opened, so we couldn't drink it and had to use our own. Lastly, there was no TV remote in our room.
The front desk furnished a new remote, but that remote didn't work. The night manager attempted to troubleshoot but ultimately could not figure it out. We were told that the boss would be available to talk to us in the morning about it. There was no further attempt to provide the TV that we had paid for with our room.

Absolutely in love with this hotel. The location, charm and decor, but most of all the staff. JESSICA at the front desk has got to be the best face of a business we have seen in 6 states. She was absolutely welcoming and went above and beyond to make us a feel like a million bucks after driving for days. Everything at this hotel has been more than and we could not recommend it more. Walking distance to Old Town bars and shops, $10 parking outside the back door, and breakfast! Don't opt for a big box if authenticity is your style, this is old luxury at its best. And be sure to ask for Jessica.
