Beautiful castle from outside. Inside needs a bit of love. Same for the staff. Unfriendly. Unwelcoming. Very cold service. Wouldn't bother with continental/hot breakfast. Over priced for reheated food. Castle accommodation, yet not staying in the castle, maybe that was in the fine print that I missed. Room was generally fitted out nice. No fridge and no working exhaust fan in bathroom And there was a wedding on the night we stayed, it seemed the wedding guests got priority parking, making it difficult to unload and load the car with our bags, due to being so far away.

Just returned from an overnight stay last night, for my friend's Daughter's Wedding Reception and evening celebrations! What an amazing location! So beautiful! First class! All the staff were amazing, especially the male manager of the Wedding Reception this weekend. I have arthritis, and he went out of his way to help me with easier directions in and around the castle passageways/courtyard to help my mobility. 100% recommend Lumley Castle as a Wedding Venue! X

Nice surroundings. We opted for a cheaper room which was quite difficult to move around (there was a sloped roof on one side of the bed so impossible to stand on that side). The bar was really nice, good selection of alcohol and a lovely inviting fireplace. We ate in the bar but the food came from the restaurant and was excellent. Breakfast was also really good however they need to keep on top of replenishing the buffet a bit more. The cooked part of the breakfast was speedy and again excellent. Also a fast check in and checkout service.

I took my family for afternoon tea here as a Christmas present. We all had a lovely afternoon- the food and service were excellent. I have to give a special mention to the dairy free tea. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the selection for me was great. Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for a tea that fits dietary requirements.

A perfect Christmas hotel. Beautifully decorated, atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, all the lovely touches. Gordon, the GM, keeps everything and everybody on their toes, a great asset. Afternoon tea when we arrived, medieval banquet, Christmas lunch, hog roast, comfortable warm rooms. Worth the long journey. We'll done Gordon and all.

A lovely venue, and very quirky. The restaurant offered a really nice breakfast, and it felt very covid safe. The hotel rooms were small and odd, simply because they have to work with the space they have in this very old building. This adds to the experience though. Don't expect contemporary, and embrace the quirkiness. Explore the building and it's little areas, enjoy the open fire in the lounge and the gorgeous views from the gardens.

Spent a wonderful evening and night here. Can not fault the experience. Great location and surroundings. Amazing food, attentive service. Recommend the steak pave. I had mine rare and it was the best I've ever had. We stayed in a superior double room in the main part of the castle and it was truly luxurious. Bear in mind that it is a real 14th century castle so there are narrow passageways, low ceilings, steep stairways and uneven floors. Only for the sure footed unless staying in one of the courtyard rooms. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and felt magical.
