Services
Here in the northernmost area of Britain is a grand Scottish country house which thankfully takes its food seriously. Chef Scott O' Keefe draws on superb local and near-local produce: Loch Fyne salmon, sweet Orkney crab, Scotch beef fillet from the Highlands. Even the water here taste good although the whisky tastes better.

Came here back in March on a solo weekend trip. Charming stay! Beautiful grounds, wonderfully kind staff and so much history around. It was not a busy time so I basically had the run of the place which was really nice. I can't recommend this place more. I'm already looking to return in 2023.

This is THE place to stay in Inverness. My husband and I honeymooned in Scotland in late April and Culloden House was our absolute favorite stay. We were treated like family and the beauty of the house is something magical. We still talk about our stay and have been begging friends to stay here in their visits. We dream about returning one day!

Absolutely stunning property. Step back in time with a stay at this quintessential old Scottish manor house. Walk the halls where Bonnie Prince Charles organized the Jacobite forces for the Battle of Culloden. Take an afternoon break for exquisite lunch or high tea. Special thanks to our gracious hosts Kyle and Leena who made the stay even more memorable

Absolutely loved our stay here. The food was amazing but the staff truly makes the experience. Steven and Kyle made us feel like family. Next time I'm in Inverness, I'll be returning to Culloden house. It's truly magical.

Kyle, Fiona, George, Harvy & the rest of the staff at Culloden House are nothing short of exceptional. We finished our honeymoon with them and they went out of their way to make sure we had the best experience possible. We ended up having to stay an extra day due to a cancelled flight and I couldn't have been happier that we got to spend it with them.

Their recommendations on places to visit, the afternoon tea in our room, breakfast and dinner with them were all absolutely fantastic. The whisky selection is also fantastic with 2 beautiful common rooms to enjoy it in. We will make a point to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Obviously this is an ancient building, so expect things to be dated. The staff are very friendly and the food is of a good standard. Four of us had the same lamb main course, but unfortunately one person had nearly as much onion as they did meat. Surprised to be charged nearly 24 for 3 small prosecco. If we had been given the bottle, I would have understood, but this seemed a bit steep. After dinner coffee and shortbread was excellent.

Absolutely loved our stay here! The staff was so personable, kind and friendly without being intrusive. They greeted us in the driveway to take our bags in for us right away. The beds were so comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. It was the whole package, quaint and classy at the same time, away from the traffic of Inverness city but close enough to go in for dining and shopping and such. It was a WONDERFUL place to stay!

Having been at Culloden House before and having a fantastic meal. This time we were very disappointed. The amuse bouche of venison was roughly chopped rather than finely chopped. The cod was a meager portion that was overcooked. My partner could not eat the venison main. Will not be rushing back.

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and it was the best night ever! Wonderful staff that treated us like family and even upgraded our room to a lovely suite. Food was delicious and can't beat the selection of whisky! We had a lovely time and are already planning our next trip back.

We (a group of 7) had a truly wonderful experience in Culloden House. We only had lunch, but the location, food and service were great. Highly recommend. A nice stop in a wonderful autumn day.

The room and food at the Culloden House were fantastic. I would like to especially thank the gentleman who carried our heavy luggage up two flights of stairs. He was kind and gracious. I highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

As close to perfect as you can get. Starts with the magnificent house you see upon driving up. Then the very easy check in process. Next to very spacious rooms with the most comfortable beds we have enjoyed in ages. Wonderful grounds, including a walled garden, to meander around. Fantastic breakfast with many breakfast starters as well as mains (I recommend trying the smoked haddock). The best part, though, was the staff. Incredibly helpful and friendly. Just when you are sad to see one go off shift, the next is equally incredible.

Great to walk around the grounds and feed the ducks. The Forbes walled garden is beautiful at this time of year. Must treat ourselves to High Tea one day soon!

Fine dining, five star service. We had the most delicious meal with wine paring for lunch. Very reasonably priced. What added value was the impeccable service - Kyle (I believe his name was) was chatting and considerate. He was able to give suggestions to assist our highland tour as well as a joke or two thrown in. We opted to a two-course meal each (hint: share a starters and a dessert).

Everything was beautifully presented and better yet, tasted marvellous. We toured the walled garden after to walk off the chocolate pudding. The gardens were very well kept and have defined themes to the flower choice. Highly recommend when visiting Culloden.

Steve and his team provide an amazing level of grand Scottish Highland hospitality in the beautiful Culloden House circa 1788! The rooms, food and service are all provided at a level where we felt like Royalty as their guests! There is so much rich history here that starts with its association with Bonnie Prince Charlie and the 1746 battle on Culloden Moor! You are at the gateway to Inverness, the Highlands and the legend of the Loch Ness Monster. Plan to spend a few days at least exploring this wonderful historical area.

The highlight of our stay was the amazing staff. They remember your name, and were so helpful and accommodating. They weren't afraid to have a real conversation with you, which we found refreshing. AND we were upgraded to a suite because we were in Scotland for our honeymoon, and that was so nice of them! They didn't have to do that at all.

Dinner service was excellent-- my husband and I had the guinea fowl. Breakfast before we departed was unforgettable. I recommend trying the fruit poached in Earl Grey, traditional parritch and Lossiemouth kipper. The portions are generous, and they bring out all the pastries and baked goods you can eat. The spring onion rolls at dinnertime were to die for.

Our room was large and luxurious, decorated to match the age and history of the house. But keep in mind that Culloden is an old house, and as my husband described it, an old house has old "charms, " and you appreciate it for what it is. Though the door frames were a wee sticky and the hot water may take a little longer to warm, you're paying to stay in a historical house.

So let it take you back in time. I'll never forget that beautiful evening. It was unseasonably warm for June, and golden light streamed through our open windows. The sound of a lone bagpiper announced dinnertime below, and as I lazily sat by the window, with elbows propped on the sill and head cradled in my palms, listening, it felt like an official welcome to the Highlands.

Charming House. The friendly service will have your heart. My room was lovely, clean, comfortable and more than I imagined. The bathroom was large and modern. Even indulged in a bath while I was there. The food was delicious and the whiskey selection was incredible. The grounds are stunning, and I only wish I had more time to enjoy the hotel in its entirety. My only regret is that I live so far away that I cannot return there to stay again and again. It was my favorite place I stayed on my visit to Scotland!

LIKE SO MUCH MORE THAN FAMILY Thanks to Exploring Vacations - outstanding travel agents in Ireland - we discovered Culloden House on a tour of Scotland two years ago, and fell in love with it. So this year we went back for a longer stay. This is a beautiful, well-cared-for mansion with a long and fascinating history - once commandeered as Bonnie Prince Charlie's battle headquarters for the tragic slaughter at Culloden Moor.

Every room is individual and interesting, the service is unfailingly warm and impeccable, the food is superb. and the staff treat you not just like family; they treat you like the family that has known and loved you from the day you were born. Gardener Andy keeps the Forbes Walled Garden awash in riotous color among the fruit trees (the plums picked for us were delicious, straight off the tree!). while Outlander fans can rest a while on the Diana Gabaldon Bench, donated by "The Ladies of Lallybroch." Much thanks to Fiona and Murray and Josh, senior staff who held to astronomical standards while manager Stephen Davies was away on business. We were sorry to miss him. You should go. And when you do, and when you meet Kyle - and you will - please tell him Stevie and John say hello.

Pros: Great location for all of your sightseeing. Great selection of Scotch. The rooms were clean. Delicious breakfast(I would specify how many pieces of toast that you do want because they give you WAY to many). Btw, there are ducks that live by the entrance so drive slowly they tend to go around your car because they are used to people feeding them.

We didn't eat dinner at the restaurant because I didn't want to eat late after traveling all day so we ate down the road at The Snow Goose and it was good. Cons: Don't stay here if you can't do stairs. You get Plenty of hot water while showering, I just wish that you could turn down the heat it was scalding! I wish that the decor was updated it is rather dated.

One for the Kings and Queens amongst us! Have you ever stayed in a place where you are treated with such elegance and splendour that you thought you might be in another world? This is definitely a place you want to check out with your partner for a special romantic weekend break. Prices range from 175 to 395. The beds are amazing. You might wonder why I mention this? Well, I never overslept a fire alarm, except in that place.

I could not believe it when the hotel stuff mentioned at our breakfast table that there had been a fire alarm the night before - How exciting?!? Not for me as I never heard the alarm. We slept in a four poster bed under the roof and the mattress and covers where the softest I ever experienced. I thought I might disappear in that bed! There is also lots of history attached to this place. Bonny Prince Charlie slept there before the battle of Culloden and I also think he used it as a hiding place after the battle.

The stuff is very friendly. You dine in style and if I say style then this includes silver cutlery and silver cloches (silver dome/ food covers). How fancy. I was lucky enough to have had a peak at a Clan Meeting whilst residing there, what was an amazing experience.
