The Winchester was built in 1882, and occupied privately by its designer, J.W. Cockrill, who was the town's leading designer, and borough engineer at the time. The house was converted to a hotel in 1948, but many of the original features still remain. The leaded windows, the inlayed fireplace and Italian dado give an atmosphere of quality and opulence.
There is a magnificent staircase leading to the first floor where the decor remains elegant. The Haddon family became owners of the Winchester in 2004 and have continued to provide immaculately maintained accommodation at this family run establishment.

Good location & in walking distance to beach, cafes, pubs, shops, amusements & other transportation if you so wish (land train, horse & cart, open top bus). Great food & service. Rooms are well kept & clean. Gregg & Sam are extremely friendly & welcoming. They are there if you need anything & nothing is too much trouble. There's always a lovely atmosphere. This is our second visit now & would highly recommend.
