Bit disappointing - the bar manager was quite abrupt when we arrived and we didn't feel welcome at all. The surroundings (bar and courtyard) were beautiful, but all afternoon teas were unavailable at 2pm on a Saturday. Our orders arrived fast, but we wouldn't return simply because of the attitude. Such a shame, as other staff were lovely.

Wonderful room, well furnished. Bathroom toiletries of good quality. Excellent produce on the cooked breakfast. They had vegan and continental selection too. Had a top floor room in the eaves and felt luxurious. From the reception to the waiting staff were pleasant, helpful and upbeat. We will return to this small chain of hotels again!

A place with real character. The single rooms have a double bed and a good deal of space and really well furnished with plenty of floor space and a real comfy feel. The pub side has a lovely warm feeling, the food exceptional, duck breast with pomegranate and beetroot was an absolute star, the creme brule a close second. The local beer was well worth a go. All in all a relaxed evening stop over.

Friendly staff that are always ready and willing to help. Making special events work with ease. I went for a wedding, and the staff could not be more helpful. For things for children to colour and draw on. Amazing rooms, with a amazing beds that are nice to sleep in and always enough coffee and tea in the rooms. It is was easy to contact the front desk to ask for anything from coffee and tea refills, you can ask for more cups or mugs to be brought up to your room.
And even if you wish you can ask for a bucket of ice to be brought up to your room and they are really quick with making sure you are accommodated. Food was amazing as well. From the look to the taste. And the courtyard is nice to sit in if you need to smoke or just want to get some air.

Stayed here last night and writing this review from the residents lounge. Its a charming hotel situated on Stilton's high street on what was the original A1. Rooms are fine, clean and functional. Its a little creaky as the building is old so there is a lot of ambient noise. We ate in the restaurant last night and enjoyed a very nice meal. All homemade and as you might guess the menu featured a lot of Stilton cheese!
I started with pate which was very good. Steak for main cooked just as requested and bread butter pudding for desert. The desert is where the lost star comes in as I'm afraid it was rather dry. The room rate is 120 pounds b&b and dinner was about 40 pounds each. If I am around here again I would stay here again no problem.
