Originally the village school, The Belfry near Honiton was built in the late 1860s under instruction of Sir Francis Elliot-Drake, Squire of the Parish. As one of the key buildings in the centre of the village the hotel has an imposing location opposite the 13th Century church and possibly even older pub, The Yarcombe Inn. The Belfry at Yarcombe, Boutique Rooms near Honiton, is built mainly of flint cob, with stone mullioned windows set with leaded, stained windows.
When a school, the building comprised three large barn-like rooms, the junior school-room took up the largest area in the main wing that now is made up of the guest lounge and five of our six guest bedrooms.

Booking process was easy and efficient, and arrival process friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom very clean; smelled a bit of the bathroom cleaner, but mostly dispelled with an open window and extractor fan. Walls are not very soundproof so could hear talking and TV from the next room and movements upstairs - but all was quiet after 1030. Bed was very comfortable.
Couldn't sleep with the window open because the church bell rings every 15 minutes - but earplugs are provided. Also if you are woken by light you may find the headlights of the very occasional passing cars disturbs you. Excellent breakfast. Nice fish and chips and a beer in the pub over the road for dinner.

Brilliant place to stay, professional and yet welcoming. A peaceful and historic building tastefully adapted to offer high quality accommodation. The rooms are furnished to a good standard, with high end fittings and toiletries. Very accommodating to your individual needs. Excellent value for money - would recommend. Stayed 4 nights.

Very nice place, comfy beds, great showers and the breakfast is amazing (poached eggs with smoked salmon on white toast). Stayed here for monday and Tuesday nights for 3 weeks. Very welcoming and friendly. Great building too with history and old photos. Will certainly stay here again. I highly recommend it.
