Stalking Red Stags during the rut is one of the most exciting and traditional activities Scotland has to offer. The rut will have its peak from the beginning of October until the end of the season. At Tulchan of Glenisla it is not uncommon to see several hundred red deer on a stalking day during the rut.
We arrange driven days for Grouse, Pheasant, Partridge and Blue Hares. Woodcock and Snipe can additionally be added on our walked up days. Those also include Grouse, Partridge, Pheasant and Blue Hares depending on the seasons. For the very fit guests we can also arrange walked up shooting for Ptarmigan.

Only a review for the bar/pub part (I didn't stay the night!) The Glenisla is a perfect spot on the Cateran walking trail, so I aimed a route from the top of Mount Blair to drop in for a drink on Sunday of the May Bank holiday, hoping they'd be open ("you fool", I hear you cry; "just call ahead!" but hey, that's how I roll.). Brilliantly welcoming to walkers, a lovely stone flagged floor in the bar, with some snug tables, though we mainly stayed outside as it's such a view, and there's a sheltered marquee to provide a bit of shelter if needed. Enjoyable atmosphere inside with plenty locals and walkers/guests in as well.
Good range of beers; couple of hand pump ales, the usual tennents, a cider, couple of other taps and my favoured pint, Callie Best, plus 3 pints were under 11 so good value to boot! The two girls behind the bar/serving were both lovely, very friendly and chatting/interested in our walk, giving very attentive service - got a couple of portions of excellent chips (one cheesy, of course) as we found they were serving food all day (we got there at just before 4 in the afternoon).
Friendly manager too, so all round great service and welcome, even though just there for drinks. Not many places still out there in the countryside (gorgeous in the Angus glens by the way), so was very glad to give the folks at Glenisla some business; hopefully they'll continue long in to the future. Will definitely come back and stay at some point too! In short, totally worth a visit, and would provide an excellent base for walks (loads of) in the area. Please go give them some business!

Fantastic food and service in the Glenisla Hotel which was a nice surprise as it is conveniently located near the cottage we stayed at. Worth making a trip if you are in the city as you won't be disappointed at all. The food portion were massive and filling making it good value for money. We ate: 1. Trio local venison 2. Haggis fritters 3. Onion rings 4. Sunday turkey roast 5. Haddock and chips

I organised a small surprise party for my son & daughter-in-law's wedding anniversary in the Hotel. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. The carvery and sweets provided along with children's meals were excellent. Everyone throughly enjoyed the evening. Thank you for making it a special occasion.

Driving past in our camper van, decided to stop for a drink and ask to use the toilet. After such a warm welcome, we ended up having some delicious food, staying the night in the car park, and they offered offered use of all their facilities. The owners are great people and are hoping to provide more facilities specifically for campers soon. We will definitely visit when in the area again

Incredibly welcoming place that goes the extra mile to make visitors feel comfortable. Beautifully refurbished hotel in a historic drover inn, this place is well worth a visit. Good food is available at the restaurant, note that this is run independently from the hotel though. All the best to the family running this hotel, you can see a lot of effort has gone into preserving this part of Glenisla.
