Why the perfectly placed Airds Hotel is the jewel in Port Appin's crown - and has the best food on the West Coast. I would like to reassure all our guests that risk assessments have been undertaken and the strictest of cleaning and hygiene protocols are in place that meet and exceed government guidelines.
The entrance to the hotel is through a small flower filled conservatory which looks out towards Loch Linnhe and the mountains beyond. Here you can relax any time of the day and read or admire the view over a cup of coffee or enjoy a lunch watching 'life' go by. It is most popular for afternoon tea when it gets the best of the sun and for pre dinner drinks with the sun setting over the mountains. The intimacy of the smaller lounge encourages conversation, helped considerably by the gentle crackle of the log fire.
Great hospitality is the key to Pride of Britain's long-standing reputation for excellence in hotel-keeping. Pride of Britain Hotels is a collection of never more than 50 independent, mostly family-owned hotels in some of the most beautiful locations around the British Isles. Each has its own distinctive style and character, and all are run by people with a passion for great hospitality, verging on obsession.
So what a wonderful opportunity I now have in owning a hotel. Why - because it gives me the chance to combine my two passions by inviting car enthusiasts to come and stay. Whether you are just one car or part of a larger tour, The Airds has some real plus points. Being a member of Relais & Chateaux, the hotel has a proven reputation for luxury, fine dining and exceptional service and these qualities will be enjoyed by all guests whether you are on your own or your club has taken exclusive use.Our setting in Port Appin, 20 miles north of Oban, 27 miles south of Fort William, is beautiful with typical west coast scenery and some wonderful views straight from the hotel across Loch Linnhe.

There are really no words to describe the sheer joy of a stay at the Airds Hotel. My partner and I stayed in the Junior Suite for 2 nights in November 2021 and we loved every minute. The hotel and surroundings are beautiful, with sumptuous Vispring beds to snuggle you to sleep after a long hard day of relaxing by the fire in one of the beautifully decorated lounges or enjoying a wee dram in the whisky bar.
The service is fabulous, with well-trained staff who are friendly, professional and always available yet unobtrusive. And then there's the food.oh the food! It's nothing short of exquisite. Suffice to say we're still talking about what we ate 2 months later. The Airds is a wonderfully quiet 'get away from it all' place to recharge your batteries and feel thoroughly well looked after.
We can't wait to return. UPDATE - 16.2.22 There's been a change of ownership at the Airds and there seem to be major redevelopment plans afoot. Obviously I can't review what I haven't experienced, but please be aware my review was based on a stay under the previous ownership.

Booked a cottage annexed to the hotel back in the Autumn of 2021. We were then informed that due to a double booking would we accept a later date and in a different cottage. Now been informed that this cottage and date has been double booked with the earliest alternative forward date being June! This place appears to be in chaos!

The position is truly amazing but even better is the attention to detail in this pretty hotel. We found every member of the staff to be helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Robert the general manager was outstanding and a true professional. We stayed three nights in a beautiful Loch facing room which was attractive and comfortable. Each of the three dinners we had was delicious with perfectly adequate portions but exceptional quality Prices are somewhat on the high side Will return

Disappointed to stop by after an arduous cycle to get to you and found you not serving anything even at your outdoor tables to non residents. A group of 4 of us wanted a beer. Apparently due to COVID-19. A nonsensical interpretation of the rules in my opinion. We pressed on to the village shop and got our beer there. We ended up drinking out of a can as opposed to a glass but you lost 20 and some good will.

Beautiful views from dining room, if you get a table next to the windows, which seem to be reserved for residents. Food was delicious, what there was of it. We were still hungry when we got home! Disappointed as this was a special birthday treat. Definitely NOT value for money. Pretentious and stuffy. Staff tried their best but felt uncomfortable the whole time there. Clientele mostly oap ages. Sorry, more food on plates, less emphasis on upper class trimmings. Take a trip down to Archerfield in East Lothian, they have fine dining in sumptuous surroundings down to a fine art, see how it should be done.

We were unfortunately not able to have our trip to Airds due to illness. We missed the cancellation timeline but they were very understanding and worked hard to make sure we were not too out of pocket. It was most appreciated and has made us feel better at having to miss a wonderful treat we were so looking forward to. Many thanks. We will book again when things are better for us. It is a dream place and can't wait to come as soon as possible. Kindest Regards to all Anne and David Rourke Inverkip

A lovely way to finish our Scottish holiday. We so enjoyed Scotland and feel incredibly lucky that we found this gem of a place to finish. It is not cheap but then you pay for excellence and Airds certainly fills that description. Everything about it was good, from the service and food to the decoration and incredible location.

The Airds Hotel's afternoon tea gets my vote because they offer two extremely scenic views for their sittings. My family and I had been making an extreme road trip around Scotland and were stopping in Creag Mohr. This was a relatively short drive up the road and well worth it! You may sit indoors or outdoors. The indoor seating could have been in a number of beautifully decorated rooms that were reminiscent of old libraries and afternoon parlors.
The outside garden seating overlooked the beautiful Port Appin and was close to Castle Stalker. (Get your cameras ready!) The food itself was really only ok as far as I was concerned. It was a lot of food and quite heavy. One of my road trippers got a little sick (not sure if it was a combination of driving, fatigue, and food). Still, the rest of us enjoyed the fresh air, the gorgeous grounds, and the respite that was offered.
I would caution my possibly obese or handicapped fellow Americans here in that the bathrooms were upstairs. It might take significant effort to make your way up there, and there is only one stall for both genders to share, as I recall.
