Family birthday group of 7. Service was patchy, not because 'our' server was poor, but because she was drafted in to support a 34 person party who were ordering 3 courses and drinking like prohibition was about to be introduced. Our food, overall was a solid 7/8 out of 10, with a few exceptions; the modified scallop starter (dairy & capsicum allergy) was poorly cooked, with scallops having no sear or real heat, just luke warm; Squid tasted like the cheapest version from the co-op.

On the plus side, the blade of beef entree and 1/2 lobster were excellent, 10 out of 10's. I sometimes wonder if the quality of food and service would reach a higher level if they introduced a smaller menu, the current menu is enormous! We arranged our own dairy free cake from a confectioner in Edinburgh, as when booking the reservation they made it very clear they don't have the capability (or desire) to produce special cakes.

It did feel weird when bringing the cake to the table that they insisted we do the slicing and they provided a steak knife :O it almost felt like they wanted nothing to do with serving/touching the cake? We'll definitely go back, we just hope they can improve some of their consistency, food & service.

All staff from the get go, went over and above. My room was so hot they provided a large cooling fan for the duration of my stay. Any extras I needed were provided Instantly, i. e. tea bags, milk. My room was so comfy and I slept well. All staff were lovely. Was there for my son's wedding, the food was excellent, ( No I'm not Easily pleased) I couldn't fault it, the Ceremony reception food service and staff were all excellent.

If I had need to be in the vicinity in the future I wouldn't hesitate to book this venue. The views are beautiful, having seen them on many occasions "still take my Breath away". I had the most wonderful weekend and stay. "Thank You Orocco Pier"

If I could give this hotel 6 stars then I would. The staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms were pristine, the toiletries provided were luxurious. The meals in the restaurant at both breakfast and dinner were delicious. And, then there is the location.it is delightful, and the view across to the Forth Bridge is spectacular. I will be recommending this hotel to anyone I know who is visiting Edinburgh!

I had read in several reviews that service could be slow, but my sister had been in the week earlier and had no complaints, so my wife and I booked in for 2015hrs on Saturday night. It was busy when we first went in and we were shown a booth for a drink until our table was ready. I honestly though, here we go, it's going to be a long wait, but no, I was wrong, we were shown through to our table bang on time.

From then on, the young lad serving us was attentive, the food and drinks arrived quickly, the plates cleared promptly and this despite the restaurant being very busy, with some large tables in. I had the croquettes with black pudding and then the wagyu burger, whilst my wife had the prawns followed by the Malaysian chicken. All very nice and well presented. Yes, some of the dishes aren't cheap, but it's not only the price of buying in produce that's gone up, so has the cost of cooking the food and I suppose it has to be passed on to the customer. Had a lovely evening, food was delicious and service excellent. Would I go back, most definitely.and soon!

Nice decor, lucky to get seat looking out to the Forth Rail Bridge. Expensive, plus they add 10% service charge! Food and wine was good though, service a little slow. 2 hrs for 3 course for couple. I would go back, but not for a family meal. Best to save for a special occasion.

We had booked lunch there. We walked in and were directed into the restaurant where we were seated. We ordered drinks but weren't ready for food just yet. We had told our Waitress this who clearly wasn't happy about this and kept coming back. After the third "inviting" 'are you ready yet!' we have decided to get some nibbles, pay our bill and get out. Definitely won't be coming back. Shame that this one Waitress let the place down.

We were lucky enough to have our wedding reception here on 15th January 2022. I can not fault Orocco Pier one bit. 1: We came back from the registry office and everyone was looked after whilst we were getting our photos taken. 2: the meal was amazing. The food was delicious and portion sizes were good. We dumbed down the food to make it plainer for people but the chef still made it exceptionally tasty. 3: The evening reception was so fun and relaxed.

The bar staff were a great laugh and looked after us really well. The evening food was amazing too. We chose stovies and chicken strips. The chicken was in a cone with our picture on it. The DJ was fantastic too. He made the night and everyone had a blast on the dance floor. 4: a special thank you to Sharne (sorry if it is spelt wrong). She managed our whole day and she looked after us so well.

Even when we needed time ourselves, she gave us that time and provided us with whatever we needed. 5: The Room they gave us was amazing. it had exceptional views of the bridges and we were so comfortable. Breakfast was lovely too and didn't feel rushed. We couldnt have asked for a better venue for our wedding. Thank you so much.

Booked weeks in advance as had been highly recommended. My partner had lobster which was lacking much meat, we did highlight this and they did discount a cpl of drinks, I myself had the haddock which was really disappointing, the fish batter was really poor flat with no crisp to it at all. We may just have been unlucky but without anybody actually telling the restaurant then nothing will change

Absolute fantastic venue and staff. We got married at the orroco pier in August of this year. From start to finish I cannot praise them any higher. The wedding planner kayleigh and her team were great, always keeping us up to date with any changes that concerned us, ensuring we never missed anything and giving some great ideas for the day. The events coordinator cam was also fantastic on the day, ensuring everything ran smoothly, keeping us to schedule and making sure the day itself was as good as it could be.

All the bar staff were brilliant, friendly and happy to get anything that was asked, even if it wasn't held in the function room bar. The food was 10/10, with many guests commenting on how great it had been, the special attention to detail with any dietary requirements was fantastic and left everyone delighted. Overall I would recommend the orroco pier to anyone. Thank you to all the staff for a fantastic day.

Great ambience and attentive staff spoiled by poor starters - king Prawns were from a frozen packet with dubious heritage (not King) and Hot Smoked Salmon was cold. A bad Oyster resulted in numerous trips to the bathroom throughout the night! Automatic discretionary service charge was paid but upon reflection was not warranted.

Attended a function here. The function room was first class with a full length window looking out over the Forth river. A large range of beers were available and the afternoon tea was very nice. A balcony allowed access outside and even to the beach. First rate all round

Our second visit to this hotel and once again it didn't disappoint. The staff are lovely and the rooms well provisioned. We took up a room offer that included a food/ drink tab this time that was excellent value for money. The room on offer didn't have a view but we knew we didn't intend to spend much time in there and requested a table next to the window in the Samphire restaurant that the staff kindly fulfilled for us.

Our room was on the smaller size but had everything required and the en-suite was nicely fitted out with great water pressure in the shower. The only improvement that could have been made was that our room looked out over a small courtyard style area over a single storey extension and directly faced a window on the other side. A trellis had been erected to help with privacy but unfortunately the plants on it had seen better days and didn't offer much screening.

As such we felt we needed to keep the blinds mostly closed for privacy. This could easily be addressed by replacing the plants or perhaps swapping them for artificial climbers that would provide year round screening with minimal maintenance. The food at our evening meal was lovely and breakfast the following morning was also excellent. The hotel is well located in easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and cafes.

Nice venue (bar, restaurant, hotel, wedding venue) in South Queensferry with great views over the Firth of Forth and the 3 bridges. Very clean and friendly staff. We like it very much and hope this period will end soon so we can come to our beloved Edinburgh. Take care, see you soon!

For unknown reasons, the kitchen was extremely backed up, so it took a very long time for our food to arrive. Yet our server Chloe was so cheerful and attentive that we didn't really mind. She is excellent at customer service.

My husband and I came here while on our Honeymoon and decided to dine here for dinner! First of all, the views! My goodness- they can set the mood to romantic or awesome. whatever you fancy! I don't recall exactly what we ordered anymore because I waited too long to post this review, but everything was DELICIOUS. Oh, except for the Oysters in our opinion.

We definitely might be Oyster snobs and they were not terrible here, but I wouldn't come here just for oysters. definitely try the food! Great lunch spot/date night spot/ date yourself spot/ great views spot. we loved it!

This was my first time at the restaurant. I was with friends who had been there. I ordered to Steak Burger and it was burnt on one side. I asked for a new burger and when it came back in a couple of minutes it appeared they reunes the burnt side down and reserved it. I turned the burger back and asked for a chicken burger. It came over cooked and dry. Had to wash the first 2 bites down and could eat no more. The fries were ok. They compt mine and my wifes meal but I did come to eat.

What an excellent dining experience. Booked ahead to arrange sitting by the window to get the best view of the Forth bridge, the new Queensferry Crossing bridge (referred to by locals as "Kevin") and the Rail bridge and it was stunning. (See photo) Ordered small mussel pot and oyster to start. Online it showed they did rockerfeller style oysters but they no longer did these.

The manager came over and said the chef would do them anyway albeit slightly different from normal rockerfeller but they would be crusted. They were excellent and what great service! Mains were the scallops which were cooked to perfection. I'd recommend changing out the mash though as think it was a bit heavy to have with scallops. Fries go much better or even something lighter like vegetables.

Just a personal preference though. It was all very tasty and I'd highly recommend this as a must visit destination. Great views, great service and great food. Oh yeah and for all we got plus a bottle of wine and bottle of water it was 93. Well worth it!

Beautiful view, but unimaginative menu and lackluster service. Suggestion to Orocoo Pier: play some music and train the waitstaff to smile + walk with a purpose. If the atmosphere had more energy, there would have likely been an hour wait (7pm on a Thursday). Instead, it was 1/4 empty.

Stunning views over the Forth and Rail Bridge and ideal place for a romantic nighttime meal or river watching during the day. Outdoor seating available. As a vegetarian there isn't a lot of choice especially on the day menu and the ciabatta was a bit uninspiring.

Was not impressed with food in here waited over 40 mins for our food the fish n chips looked disgusting and I wouldn't feed it to a stray cat. Sunday roast dinner looked terrible portions were tiny and we are still hungry steak was all there was on the plate with burnt chips WE DEFO WONT BE BACK HERE SO DISAPPOINTED. My salmon was dry and my mussels were ok considering this is a seafood restaurant I could have cooked a better dinner at home myself NOT GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY.

We love the location but only quite like the place. For me this means lovely bedrooms for romantic getaway but restaurant and bar not so good. Trying a bit too hard. Still pleasant enough and potentially great depending on the type of visit. We have never really liked the restaurant - definitely too expensive and quality not as good as they make out. Bar is better - good burgers etc. Booze is a bit plastic wine bar - usual suspect draught beers etc. 4* for the rooms the rest 3*

This place has it all. Great food, great staff and a location that is nearly unbeatable. Our first night was a bit of a hassle as it was the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the nearby Forth Road Bridge and that portion of the town was closed for the celebration. It made locating the hotel tougher than usual. But, it was definitely worth the effort. We ended up spending 3 nights there and enjoyed every minute of it.

After hearing many great things about Orocco Pier, I was anxious to visit the restaurant. Stunning views aside, I felt the menu was poor, particularly for a seaside joint. I ordered 'squid' to start with which was just calamari with a dip, it wasn't very flavoursome and the portion was far too big for a starter for one. It was ok. For my main, I deliberated for some time between steak or the beer battered haddock.

I opted for the latter, believing that a seaside restaurant should be able to do this dish justice. Wrong. The IPA beer used in the batter was all wrong; it tasted like twiglets or pretzels or similar, and ruined what otherwise looked like a nice bit of fish. The chips had potential to be very nice, but weren't crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside (the way most generally concede to be perfection for a chip), the 'crushed peas' were in a tiny wee square dish with the tartare sauce and were cold and tasted a bit like plastic.

I waited a considerable amount of time between my main reaching my table and the vinegar I requested following suit. The beer batter, for me, was inedible. My friend who ordered the same main also couldn't eat the batter. I then ordered a triple shot latte to end my meal and was disappointed further when an overly milky (it was pure white) 'latte' was presented to me, I had to change it for a flat white with an extra shot.

The staff were nice, one Canadian waitress was excellent and genuinely seemed to care about her diners. My only issue with the staff was that they kept interrupting us to ask how the meal was. When one waitress interrupted and asked how it was, I told her that the beer batter was inedible and that's why my plate looked so full, she said she would feed it back to the chef but I'm sure she didn't, she seemed put out that she didn't receive the standard 'lovely thanks' that so many spit out while gagging internally and praying they can hold it all down until they manage to reach the bathroom.

The view really was lovely, but I don't think I'd go back to Orocco Pier. If they can't get fish and chips right, I'm not eager to try anything else they might offer up.

I have the impression about Orocco Pier that the views it affords customers makes up for many the the shortfall left by the supposedly arty platings of the various dishes served. The table service we experienced was friendly and pretty efficient but price-wise, particularly for drinks, I found it lacking in value for money. The food was generally tasty enough although I've had better ravioli. It'll be a while before I think about going back.

Used to quite like the atmosphere in Orocco Pier. It was a semi-regular haunt for me on a visit to South Queensferry, what with the nice view and warm and cosy space complete with some couches and newspapers. However, I hate to be a moan but on my last visit to this place on New Year's Day I was charged 5 for two mugs of tea. Originally they were meant to be presented to me in paper cups but I objected to the idea that I'd sit in at a restaurant and get served hot drinks in paper receptacles.

The barman could tell I was peeved and offered to decant the cuppas into mugs. Upon discovering the 5 cost I almost didn't pay for them. I hate being ripped off! I recognise it was New Year's Day, but come on guys. Five quid for two teabags and milk? It wasn't even table service - I had to sort out my teas at the bar. Grrr. So, boo to the Orocco Pier. I won't be back. There are plenty other lovely places in South Queensferry that can take my money instead.

Where do I start with Orocco Pier? Immaculately presented restaurant and a menu to die for! Starter, main and dessert were all extremely well presented and delicious. I find it is rare that a restaurant can serve really good pan fried scallops consistently but the chef here has got his technique nailed down! My only three criticisms (and I hasten to add these are very very minor) are: 1.

The restaurant is a very busy place and can become quite crowded although this is usually the sign of a good restaurant. It can make it difficult to book a table which takes advantage of the beautiful views. 2. Being a steak fan I ordered a medium rare steak which in my opinion was under cooked on the outside and a bit over cooked on the inside for medium rare.

The steak was still very tasty though! 3. We were not offered any condiments with the meal (although I am sure we could have had some if we had asked!). All in all I would highly recommend it if you are a steak or a seafood fan! Will certainly be returning! Our server, Robbie, was extremely polite and attentive. Well done!

Quite pretentious with a price tag to match. Food is OK but takes for ever to come. Their speciality burgers are huge, too huge and very salty. Staff OK but more interested in chatting amongst themselves. Can't say that the view from the window is anything special.

Having been back a handful of times since my first review, I'll give it a raise in starpoints. I've been here with my boyfriend, with his parents, and with a whole slew of multi-generational family members! I've had drinks and snacks and they've been served happily (and strongly) and they kept a rather large group of people's drinks straight and quickly served. Whenever I'm in Queensferry, I really enjoy the Orocco Pier.

Stopped in here for a quick lunch on a recent trip to south queensferry. Fantastic place to stop, incredible views out its main window of the forth. It was busy but not overpowering just the right ambience There was even a tv with some football on tucked inconspicuously away. Service was great and I couldnt complain about the price. Definitely find the time to stop in if you are in the area.

Orocco Pier is one of the swankier joints in town. Actually its really a hotel, but is known as a restaurant and bar venue. Like its more humble friend down the road, The Boathouse, Orocco Pier's restaurant doesn't have the greatest vegetarian selection. It serves such appetising meals as a "roast suckling pig" (for a bargain 6.35). In the end I did settle for the gnocchi, which tasted nice, but was clearly geared toward people who liked to look at their food more than eat it.

The restaurant tends to offer more fancy schmancy dishes like "crab linguine" or "sweet and sour duck leg" (okay maybe not fancy in China, but it is for South Queensferry). For all of these main dishes expect to pay a varied amount of somewhere between 7 and 15. These dishes are presented a very lovely fashion. But I'm someone that tends to like big portions if I'm splashing out.

Maybe I'm just a glutton and need to appreciate the aesthetic of food decoration more. But for now this isn't really my cup of tea. I should add that like a lot of places in town, Orocco Pier does offer yet another fantastic view of the Forth and the Forth Bridges.

Orocco pier i found to be seriously overpriced compared to what you would get in other hotels in or around Edinburgh. Rooms were small and the meal plans for weddings were expensive compared to other hotels such as the Macdonald hotels and other privately owned hotels in the centre of Edinburgh. Even though the hotel is very modern and up to date, it certainly does not fit well with the feel of South Queensferry.

Food is horrifically over priced for what you get and i would advise to walk a few minutes further along the road to the boat house, which is very family orientated and owned by a Queensferry family too.

I stayed here in my wedding night as we had oure reception in Orocco Pier and the room was just lovely. It wasn't a huge room but had an amazing biew out over the Firth of Forth and had a large tv, dvd player, tea/coffee facilities and a lovely range of Molton Brown products for use in the bathroom. The hotel is small but is very decadently furnished and has a very luxurious feel.

Although situated above the bar, we were not troubled by noise or disrupted in any way. My great-aunt had the room next to us and she was over the moon as she had a balcony which she had her breakfast one. The prices are very reasonable and on a par with the same standard of Edinburgh hotel.
