Calcot Manor is one of the most highly-acclaimed of today??s new breed of British country hotels. A former English farmhouse set around a pretty courtyard of lime trees and ancient stone barns and stables (dating back to the 14th century), Calcot is cuddled by beautiful gardens and its own 220 acre-estate, three miles west of the quiet Cotswold market town of Tetbury in Gloucestershire.

Came here for dinner only. Amazing location, beautiful, airy interiors but some of the staff were rather unhelpful and gave off a snooty vibe. Yes you're in Wiltshire but calm down, it's not Windsor Castle. Request for a particular digestif was met with a sharp "no" without any recommendation for alternatives. Felt like by that point they just wanted rid of us.
Not a great feeling, especially when spending a small fortune. If only the staff met this restaurant's impeccable locale. Food was decent, though. Nothing to write home - or on Google - about, though, so I'll stop there.

After hearing very good things about Calcot Manor - me and my other half took the trip out to visit and we were certainly enchanted by the beautiful grounds and ample parking upon arrival. We had afternoon tea in the conservatory and although the quality of the food was very satisfactory, very little could be said for the service and even less for the very disappointing atmosphere.
When we arrived, the entire conservatory restaurant was completely empty aside from two couples at tables and a large private birthday lunch party in the corner. As this was a little treat for me and my partner we were looking forward to a luxurious afternoon tea, however we were just tacked onto the end (by means of about four feet away or so) of the large private birthday lunch table which consisted of about 15 animated guests and a barking dog.
It also didn't help our table right next to this party (which we got some looks from as it seemed we had invaded their privacy a little by being so close, which I understand) was the fact our table was also facing a wall and in a dark corner, whereas the rest of the empty conservatory dining area was bathed in lovely light being a Spring afternoon.
The table was very small and on the other side (behind us) was the staff kitchen access area and till which was constantly swarmed with loud staff cackling and laughing as well as crashing plates/cutlery and a loud generator sound, possibly a coffee grinding machine? We ordered our afternoon tea which was an easy enough process for sure and it came out fairly quickly too which was fine, however we only had three very small sandwich fingers and two scones between the two of us - although the cakes were lovely and there were four of them, they were simply plonked down on our table with no kind remark to enjoy, let alone a description of what they were which we found a little unusual.
We were found to feel almost invisible by the staff in there, squashed in this noisy and dark corner in an empty restaurant where no even came over to ask if everything was okay. I even had to get up and find a member of staff so I could settle my bill afterwards, to find they had also charged me for the tea served during my afternoon tea on top! So 40 later we both left feeling very disappointed in what should have been a lovely afternoon at Calcot Manor which is a shame as the place was so beautiful, it feels it has the potential to be so much more. and when we left, the conservatory restaurant was still completely empty.
We even looked at each other as we walked back to the car to think if we upset them somehow? We were dressed smart with my other half in a dress and smart overcoat and myself in smart shoes, chinos and a shirt. we even turned up in a Rolls-Royce so I am not sure our appearance was the issue however we just felt very brushed away from our whole experience and would find it difficult to recommend as a result.

The setting was lovely and the room was beautiful! We booked a treatment at the spa and used their spa facilities after the treatment which we really enjoyed. There is an indoor swimming pool and outdoor jacuzzi which both with heated water. On the first floor, there are treatment rooms, steam room and a sauna as well as a quiet area with a few sunbeds.
At the time of our visit, it was nice and quiet so it was very relaxing. This definitely was the highlight of our trip. One thing to point out was that the spa is separate to the main hotel. This means you have to walk outside to get to the spa place, on a rainy day which it was for our stay, you might get quite wet getting from the main hotel building to the spa.
My partner and I had dinner at the conservatory. As soon as we sat down we ordered drinks. Then soon after we had another 2 waiters asking us if we wanted to order drinks within the following 5 minutes. We thought it would be helpful to have just the one waiter to look after a table to reduce confusion. We then ordered a fish and chips and a burger and fries.
The fish and chips was lovely! Batter on the fish was nice and crispy and the chips were cooked nicely. No complaints there. However, the burger and fries was a different story. We really did not enjoy the burger as the patty was really quite hard and burnt in which the burnt taste was too over powering. The fries were ok. So we ended up only having a bite on the burger and 2 pieces of chips.
We also had our breakfast in the following morning t the conservatory. It was ok. Had the full breakfast with some toasts on the side. All the items were quite standard and the only one thing that we noticed was that the full English breakfast did not come with beans which was slightly unusual. The avocado and egg on toasts that my partner had was pretty acceptable, the only thing that we think that could improve on was to warm up the poached eggs before serving. Otherwise, it was pretty standard. Overall, I would recommend for a spa break at this hotel, but I would recommend try an off-site restaurant for better value and quality of food.

Should be six stars! Arrived at requested time. A table was reserved for us. Towels, slippers and dressing gown in complementary bags waiting for us. Coffee and tea also offered, then we were shown around the facilities. Colleagues could not do enough for us. Facilities fabulous. Last went here 17 years ago and it's even better than my last visit. Treatments fantastic. Special shout out to my therapist for the day. Thank you so much. Will not leave it so long next time!

Booked in for afternoon tea at Calcot and was really impressed with, well, everything. Such a beautiful setting, everything, exteriors and interiors alike, is immaculate and beautifully presented and the staff were all so friendly relaxed and helpful. The afternoon tea itself was one of the best we've had. The spa and grounds looked amazing too, definitely on the list for the next time we're in the area!

Lovely place to spend some quiet time in the Cotswolds. The room was well appointed and had lots of lovely touches, the bathroom being very opulent. It was a shame that it backed onto a busy road. The food was excellent and the staff were amazing. Everyone we spoke to was super polite and friendly, they really couldn't have done much more. The spa facilities were great too, it's a small intimate setup but that worked well for us.
